The Fourth Industrial Revolution, a.k.a. the ‘great reset’ and transhumanism are vast topics that in all honesty, we’re only starting to get to grips with. Suffice to say that from the understanding we’ve gained so far, we see these as dangerous, anti-nature, anti-humanity, dystopian developments. Ones that if we’re going to have a future worth living in, have to be resisted with everything we’ve got.
It could be said that being on the wrong side of 65, I’m a bit of a nostalgist and that all I’m suffering from is future shock and that I should just shut up. Well, with age comes the ability to take a few steps back and take a broader view of the situation that confronts you. One of the things that’s confronting me is that too much of what I read in dystopian science fiction novels in the 80s and 90s seems to be moving from the realms of fiction into the reality of our lives!
The readings below hopefully convey the many facets of this issue. As the title of this post clearly indicates, it’s an eclectic mix. Controversial points are raised and discussed. Links are being made between issues that some would prefer not to be made. People making those links are already being hounded by a certain, very vocal activist lobby. One that doesn’t want the truth about it to be widely known.
We would hope that a civilised debate could be had about the issues raised in the readings listed below. However, that’s an overly optimistic expectation and simply by promoting these readings, we know we may well be getting some flak. So be it. As stated in this piece – Thoughts that really shouldn’t be published, but… 23.5.22 – in terms of our relationship with elements of the anarchist movement, the damage has already been done so we can publish this without fear of any consequences…
Davos reveals building blocks for “green” social credit system – Kit Knightly | OffGuardian | May 24, 2022
How long before Alibaba decides to “reward” other “correct choices” that have nothing to do with the environment? Like vaccination, for example.
How long after that do they start punishing incorrect choices?
They already technically have access to the data they would need to construct this system. It would be naïve in the extreme to not see where this leads.
And, of course, it won’t just be China. If Alibaba is doing this then Google, Amazon, Apple and all the rest of them won’t be far behind.
Techno-Idolatry in Transhumanism – Donovan Cleckley | The 11th Hour | May 2, 2022
Transhumanism derives from the expansion of biotechnology, a thoroughly capitalist venture, driven by man’s desire to subordinate nature to his will. Man has found himself seduced by the idea that he can advance the human species beyond mortality through enhancement by technology.
Another World Exists Within Us – Paul Cudenec | Nevermore! | April 28, 2022
Nostalgists conjure up a vision of the past in which people lived peacefully and happily in small communities, close to nature, free from outside interference, producing just enough for their collective needs and organising themselves in a spirit of mutual aid and social solidarity.
Idealists, on the other hand, dream of a future in which people live peacefully and happily in small communities, close to nature, free from outside interference, producing just enough for their collective needs and organising themselves in a spirit of mutual aid and social solidarity.
It is a familiar theme of anarchist (and some other left-wing) thinking that these idealistic visions, of the past and the future, are in fact one and the same vision.
Resisting the Great Reset Without Being Scared – Tessa Lena | Tessa Fights Robots | April 10, 2022
In my experience, the inability to handle differences in opinion is a symptom of lacking faith in the wisdom of the bigger universe—and the tendency to get irritated at differing opinions is not very helpful in resisting the Great Reset, which is today’s face of the System of Domination (because that emotion is the system of domination).
